How to sharpen resin cuttting blades yourself

Sharpening resin cutting blades can be challenging because of the hard, abrasive nature of the material. However, it is possible to sharpen them at home with the right tools and techniques. Here are some steps you can follow:

  1. First, you need to gather the necessary tools. You will need a sharpening stone or diamond file, oil, and a pair of gloves.
  2. Put on the gloves to protect your hands from cuts and oil.
  3. Apply oil to the sharpening stone or diamond file. This will lubricate the blade and prevent it from overheating while sharpening.
  4. Hold the blade at the correct angle against the sharpening stone or diamond file. The angle will depend on the manufacturer’s recommendations, but it’s usually around 30 degrees.
  5. Run the blade along the sharpening stone or diamond file in one direction, away from your body. Use light, smooth strokes and maintain the same angle throughout the process.
  6. After a few strokes, turn the blade over and repeat the process on the other side.
  7. Continue sharpening the blade, alternating sides until the edge is sharp.
  8. Finally, wipe the blade clean with a cloth to remove any metal shavings or oil.

It’s important to note that resin cutting blades are often disposable, and attempting to sharpen them could potentially damage them beyond repair. If you’re not comfortable sharpening them yourself or if they’re too damaged, it may be best to replace them with a new one.
