The binders used in the cold pressing process are wetting agents and powdered resins. Liquid phenolic resins, furfural, furfuryl alcohol, cresol and the like are commonly used as wetting agents. The most used is liquid phenolic resin.
There are several factors that determine the proportion of liquid resin and powder resin used. Abrasive particle size distribution, filler type, liquid-to-powder ratio of filler amount, viscosity of liquid resin, properties of powdered resin, etc. The higher the viscosity of the liquid resin, the more liquid resin is required to completely coat the abrasive surface. The smaller the particle size of abrasives and fillers, the larger the specific surface area. The more liquid is used. The higher the molecular weight of the powdered resin, the lower the free phenol. The poorer its adhesion to the liquid resin, the greater the amount of liquid required.
Resin grinding wheel has the characteristics of certain elasticity, low heat resistance, good self-sharpening, easy production and short process cycle. It is widely used for rough grinding, rough grinding, cutting off and free grinding, such as grinding steel ingots, casting burrs, etc.
