Arasive wheel is an indispensable tool for grinding. Many people don’t know much about it. In fact, there are many types of grinding wheels. Let’s take a look at the arasive wheels commonly used in daily life.
Generally, the commonly used abrasives are brown corundum and white corundum. This is followed by black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide. The other commonly used ones are chrome corundum, single crystal corundum, microcrystalline corundum, zirconium corundum, and emery.
1.Brown corundum:
High hardness and high toughness. Suitable for grinding metals with high tensile strength. Such as carbon steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, hard bronze, etc. This abrasive has good grinding performance and wide adaptability. It is often used for rough grinding with large allowances. Inexpensive and widely available.
2.White corundum grinding wheel:
The hardness of white corundum is slightly higher than that of brown corundum. The toughness is lower than that of brown corundum, and the abrasive grains are easily broken during grinding. Therefore, the grinding heat is small. It is suitable for the manufacture of abrasive grinding wheels for fine grinding hardened steel, high carbon steel, high speed steel and thin-walled parts. The cost is higher than that of brown corundum.
3.Black silicon carbide:
It is brittle and sharp, and its hardness is higher than that of white corundum. Suitable for grinding materials with low mechanical strength, such as cast iron, brass, aluminum and refractory materials.
4.Green silicon carbide:
Higher hardness and brittleness than black silicon carbide. The abrasive grains are sharp and have good thermal conductivity. It is suitable for grinding hard and brittle materials such as cemented carbide, optical glass and ceramics.
There are many types of grinding discs and come in various shapes and sizes. Due to the different abrasives, bond materials and manufacturing processes of the grinding wheels. Various metal grinding wheel have different working performance. Each type of grinding wheel has a certain scope of application according to its own characteristics. Therefore, when grinding, the appropriate grinding wheel must be selected according to the specific situation.
